The U of U Ballroom Competition Club will be hosting the U Ballroom Challenge on February 24th at 6:30 PM in the University of Utah Union Ballroom. Admission to come and watch the event will be free, and competition entry fees will be minimal. There are several events to encourage ballroom dancers of every skill level to compete.
Note that Pre-Teen and Junior ages are combined for this competition. Also, the entry form indicates “Pro-Amateur”, which is equivalent to Championship (Open) level at other NDCA competitions. The event will also have several Latin events that are unusual, such as Bachata, Salsa, and Merengue, as well as several single-dance events. Entry forms are due by Feb 19.

A Cabaret event has been added to the Timpanogos Dancesport Festival. It is tentatively scheduled for Friday evening, but is subject to change depending on the number of entries received. Please note this event is for adults only over 18 who have graduated from high school.
Also, some events were erroneously set with limits. These limits have all been removed and you should be able to enter any event.

*Update: The explanation of the policy has been updated below for clarity*
Some have asked about entry fees for the UBEA State Title Match and Timpanogos Dancesport Festival, as they are on the same weekend and at the same venue. For the purposes of entry fees, the two competitions will be treated as one. For example, a couple that enters up to 3 categories across both events would only have to pay a total of $10 ($10 for the first three events) instead of $20 ($10 for the first three events for each competition). Another example would be that a couple who entered the same 2 events at each competition would have a total of 4 events entered and the registration fee would be $15.
The competition organizers hope this will help dancers who would like to compete in both competitions.
For questions, contact Shayla Kennington.
