Fellow Dancers,
In order to help you all prepare for the upcoming BYU Nationals in March, we have decided to make the following change in the Adult Pre-Championship Latin dances at the Provo High School Dancesport Festival. The dances will be Cha-cha, Samba, and Rumba. If you have any questions, please contact Angela Williams at angelaw@provo.edu. We look forward to seeing everyone at the competition January 27-28, 2012! Remember that entry forms are due January 18th to avoid the late fee.

UPDATE: The final schedule is available. As always, it is subject to change and dancers should be ready to dance 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for their event.

The entry fee per form (partnership) is $10 for up to 3 events. Each additional event is $5 per form (partnership). For example, if a man was dancing an event with a partner and a different event event with a different lady, the entry fee would be $20 because 2 forms would be required.

The first entry form posted on the website contained incorrect dances for some Latin events. Please note the dances in the following updated events:

• Open Pre-Teen Latin (S/PD)
• Open Junior Latin (CC/S/PD)
• Open Pre-Championship Latin (CC/S/R)

Due to popular demand, the Tiger Classic has added the following events this year:

• Elementary Syllabus American (Sw)
• Youth Pre-Championship Latin (CC/S/PD)
• Youth Pre-Championship Standard (W/T/Q)

The final competition in the Series is coming up next week! The Utah Ballroom Alliance (UBA) Showdown, hosted by Lone Peak High School, will take place next Saturday, March 28. The competition will begin in the morning and conclude in the early afternoon to allow people to attend the General Young Women Meeting that evening.

This competition is the last chance in the 2008-2009 Series for competitors to gain points and establish themselves as the top dancer in Utah in their age category and style! However, not all competitors have submitted their entry forms. In order to plan the event and the schedule, you should get your entry form to Lone Peak High School or Roger Wiblin as soon as possible. You can download the UBA Showdown entry form here:

The current rankings of the different styles in several age categories are very close. For example, there is currently a tie for 1st place in Junior Standard, and less than 10 points separate the top rankings in Preteen American, Youth Standard, Adult Standard, and Adult Rhythm. When a semi-final is danced, the winner of that event receives 19 points! So the competition is very close in several areas. Winning couples in each category and style will receive great prizes as well, such as free movie tickets, food, and gift cards.   The UBA Showdown is open to all championship (open) event competitors.
